ISU Recreational paintballWe envision this group to be for those interested in the sport but aren’t entirely interested in being competitive. It doesn’t matter what if you play scenario paintball or speedball or if you have never even played before; as long are you are interested and are capable of being a responsible, communicating adult we are happy to provide opportunities for your to enjoy the sport.
Originally, the focus of this group was to have a separate branch where people still maintained a level of commitment, albeit a much lower level of commitment, to the ISU Paintball organization and moderate sponsorship benefits through our sponsor paintball field. However, due to sponsorship complications the team decided to scrap this variation of a recreational group. Instead, the team has decided to focus on providing opportunities to play paintball recreationally to the entire campus. The goal is to have one or two group paintball outings a semester to various fields within the state and maybe even in the neighboring states. This concept would allow the team to offer opportunities to play to the entire campus regardless of commitment and experience levels. This group does not have any strict expectations in regards to how much you play or are even interested in the sport. People can still come out to our recreational outings while being involved with other student organizations, sports clubs, and etc. Everyone is welcome to join us so long as they are affiliated with the university and can make the scheduled event date; keep an eye out for any emails and promotional material from the ISU Paintball Team regarding any upcoming events. Paintball equipment can be rented at the fields we visit, see the What to Expect section for more information about what you might need to provide or wear when you play. While we emphasize that there is no strict commitment to our organization, we simply asks that you be involved enough to at least show up to meetings pertaining to the recreational upcoming outings you are interested in, communicate with organizational leaders as necessary so they may effectively organize the events, and act maturely and have good sportsmanship while participating in any recreational event. The ISU Paintball Team will also try to schedule a team practices at the fields we bring recreational groups to. This allows our competitive team to experience the practice environment of another field and play against local competition. Once practice is over, the ISU Paintball players will help the team Recreational Coordinator(s) facilitate and possibly join in on (if they choose to) recreational activities. Don't worry, field referees as well as our organizational leaders will ensure that any competitive ISU player maintains a recreational level of play to ensure that people with our group can have a good time. All event logistical information will be organized by the ISU Paintball Team including transportation, so if you are interested in these paintball opportunities please contact our organizational leaders to get on our Recreational Paintball email list. If/When a recreational coordinator position is filled, then that person will take over aspects of the Recreational Paintball activities within our organization, until then our President and Vice President will facilitate recreational activities. |
